The head of eBay Mobile and Wearables left the company this year and is now Chief Product Officer at Wrap Media. David Cheng had joined eBay’s Consumer Selling department in 2011 and headed its mobile unit for over 3 years.

A Wrap spokesperson told EcommerceBytes the mobile startup “provides rich, storytelling user experiences that are simple and inexpensive to make.” Wrap has raised over $25 million since launching in September 2015.

She said brands, enterprises, marketers, publishers, and others use Wrap to get and hold customers’ attention in seconds.

“With Wrap, a single touch takes people into a multi-functional user experience, just like an app, without actually having to download, open or be in an app,” she explained. “Wraps are authored once, fully portable and run anywhere – that means any web platform, app, game, device or brand property. Businesses can also embed video, ecommerce, geolocation and customer support content into a Wrap, which can be done in minutes – as simple as making a PowerPoint, with no programming.”

While at eBay, Cheng led a group of 15 product managers responsible for the core mobile phone, tablet, and wearables apps globally across iOS, Android, and Windows. Prior to eBay, he held a wide variety of product and leadership roles at Microsoft, Yahoo and Zillow.

In his new role at Wrap, Cheng will lead product development and strategy for the company.
